Students and staff kicked off Friday, Aug. 27 with the second pep rally of the school year. Later this evening is the Red Rail Rivalry Football Game between Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine High School at Mustang-Panther Stadium. The cheerleaders, the Premier Panteras dance team, and the color guard all performed. Alongside them, the Panther Chorale, directed by Kimberly McConnell, sang the National Anthem, and the band performed throughout the duration of the pep rally.

“I was honored to have been given the opportunity to sing [The National Anthem.] It’s a really important song and our choir is also going to be singing the anthem at the Red Rail Game tonight, so it was also some extra practice for that,” choir member, Cori Getzendanner said.

Students from each grade level participated in the “Chubby Bunny” Challenge. During each round students stuck a marshmallow in their mouth and had to say, “Mash the mustangs.” School spirit was evident throughout the pep rally today. Towards the end of the rally, the lights turned off and glow sticks were thrown out to the students in the gym to represent the black-out theme at the football game tonight.
