As CHHS students enter into the third week into the second semester after Winter Break, many things are going on around the school that you should be aware of.

Within the last week, the school district decided to disinfect several of the hallways at CHHS as the Omicron variant of Covid-19 starts to become more and more prevalent in our daily lives. Currently, as of 1/16/22, 536 students in GCISD have been diagnosed with Covid-19, and 116 active staff members as well. GCISD currently recommends that students and staff wear masks, though it is not required as of the moment.

Besides Covid, several extracurricular activities are kicking off their seasons as of recently. All the soccer teams at CHHS have recently competed in a pre-season tournament, and the Varsity Boys soccer team just came back as of Saturday from the annual tournament in Georgetown Texas. Besides soccer, the CHHS Tennis teams will also start their season back up relatively soon, the Softball Team here at the high school will swing into season fairly soon, Basketball continues to play throughout their season, Track Season is scheduled to start fairly soon, and several other athletic events are going to take place in relative succession.

Not just athletics have events scheduled, though. Choir, Theatre, and Band all have events scheduled within the next several months. The CHHS Theatre Department will soon have a showing of the musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie” where several members of the band will perform as an orchestra for the show.

Some other things that CHHS students should be aware of is that students will soon have the opportunity to select their classes for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. Students will be visited by the counselors in their history classes so that their counselors can help assist students in choosing the classes that would benefit them better. On top of that, students will have the opportunity in April to schedule their classes via Arena Scheduling in Skyward for a select number of days.

We’re half way through the year Panthers! We can do it. Finish strong, and make sure to enjoy the next two grading periods and spend time with your friends and family.
