Get to Know the Lunch Ladies

Thank you for all that you do for our school. Your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed and we appreciate you!

If a student were to tell someone what the favorite part of their day is, the chances are that they will say lunch. However, not everyone recognizes the people who make lunch possible. Dianna Meyer and Nancy Kare have worked diligently over the past 15 and 20 years providing for students. Their mornings begin at seven AM and don’t end until 2:15 in the afternoon.

Their days are long and busy, as they are constantly on their feet. The “only time you sit down is when you eat.”

When she’s not at work, Meyer likes to relax at home with her dogs.

“I like to spend a lot of time with my dogs that I have,” said Meyer. “I have two miniature Dachshunds and that’s where I spend my time after work.”

The students are their favorite part of the job. Students can count on Meyer to remember their names as they come through the lunch line. Kare’s brownies and chocolate chip cookies are something students look forward to during their short, 30 minute lunch period.

“The kids and teachers are my favorite,” said Meyer. “I love the support from the students.”

Kare thinks highly of each student and is ready to serve everyone. Though she has a soft spot for special education kids.
